Just a quick ine, My 5 year old cat Ben apparently has sever
My 5 year old cat Ben apparently has sever allergy. It all started 2 years ago with over grooming and itching which got much better after an injection. But it returned back even harder just 2 weeks ago with first vomiting a yellow liquid, then itching, then wounds from itching and chewing and the vet gave him another injection and a series of Antibiotics. A day after the injection Ben developed dripping clear nasal discharge, then sneezing then wheezing and then breathing isuues up to the point where he was panting in a few short time frames over a day. We got him back to the vet and he received two or three injections - maybe steroids, anti-inflammatory and antibiotics again- He is now on Prednisolone 1mg in the morning and 0.5mg in the evening - hopefully for a short time then decreasing the dose - and also Cyclosporin 0.25mg every night before sleep. The problem is, prednisolone seems to work within minutes improving the breathing problems, wheezing and sneezing but it wears off quickly within couple of hours. Cyclosporin doesn't seem to have any immediate effect - hopefully long term maybe - but the question is what can I do when breathing problem gets really really bad like an emergency when the cat actually stops breathing? Can I give him more Prednisolone? Upto what dose per day? He is 4.5Kg by the way. Thanks. … read more
