Hello,

I am Dr. Snow, and I can try and help you with Tardo. This is very serious. Cats that don't eat are prone to getting secondary liver disease. Did Tardo have any health problems before?

no

I cannot afford the live phone call, I'm sorry

No worries, the site automatically offers the call. We can continue on here. I'm quite concerned about your kitty. 5 days is a long time for a cat to not eat. Is he still producing urine?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
he is extremely lethargic (sic)

Ok, thats good news. Is he completely refusing everything to eat?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
will not eat anything

How often is he vomiting? Any diarrhea?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
no diarrhea, but vomits foamy water each time he drinks

Ok, could he have gotten into anything or eating anything unusual?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
he was eating toilet tissue but I stopped that about a month ago. There's really not anything he can get into.

Ok, my main concern at this point is dehydration. That is probably why he is so lethargic. Like I stated previously, when cats don't eat they are at risk for secondary liver disease. Have you tried any tuna, plain chicken, or baby food to entice him to eat?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
I have tried tuna, which he loves but he won't eat it

Ok, theres a few things I will suggest for you to try, but I think this is a case where he needs to see a veterinarian ASAP. How soon would you be able to get him into your vet?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Not before next. Monday as I have no available transportation. I did just try tuna again and he ate it....I'm afraid as to how much to give him
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
He just vomited the tuna.... so much for that

Poor baby, how much of it did he eat?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Maybe a teaspoon or so. Not much

With that much vomiting and no fluid intake, your poor baby really cannot wait another 6 days to get some help. Is there someone who can drive you and Tardo? Or maybe you could get an Uber?

Vomiting and not eating can be a symptom of a lot of things, such as a foreign body, kidney disease, diabetes, etc.

You can try very small amounts of water dribbled into his mouth with a dropper and very tiny amounts of tuna every few hours. He may be able to keep down very tiny amounts.

You can also give a dose of Pepcid (1/4th of a 10mg tablet by mouth), however, he may throw it up.

Unfortunately, I have a very limited income and a cab or Uber are too expensive. I will try your suggestions and hope for the best. Thank you. I'll get to Vet asap.

I understand, I'm just worried for your poor guy. Just try to do very small amounts very frequently to try and keep him hydrated. PLEASE keep me updated! Where are you located? I could research if there are any programs in your area that could help!
