Customer Question

I am watching a kitten they found while they are out of town. When I first got them, she had diarrhea and wasn't eating a lot. The diarrhea went away now and she eats at least twice a day. However, she seems to be sleeping a lot and not interested in playing at all which seems out of norm for a three month old kitten.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help the kitten. What is the kitten's name?

Hammy

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Hammy?

She's FIV/FELV negative, had her core boosters

I am sorry Hammy may not be feeling well.

The third eyelid appears in times of illness, pain, stress or if there are worms present.

If she was only wormed once the dose needs to be repeated 3 weeks from the first.

You can get an OTC wormer or use revolution monthly.

Rub a drop of honey or syrup into her gums to raise her blood sugar.....repeat every 4 hours

Drain the water from a can of tuna into a dish....encourage her to lap it up for hydration and to replace electrolytes.

If she does, offer some tuna.

Warm some of her wet food to bring out the aroma. You can also give her baby food chicken or turkey with no onion powder,

Please let me know if she eats and how she is doing.

I hope this information has been helpful. I will be standing by if you have other questions. Let me know if I can help further.
