Second opinion] Hi. Last Friday I took my cat to the vet because there was blood and clotting in her urine and found out she has a bladder stone. We were told to give her a special food for a week and if it doesn't help she would need surgery. All seemed well, until today. She hasn't touched her food and doesn't seem to have urinatedJA: I'll do all I can to help. What is your cat's name and age?Customer: Her name is ***** *****'s 12 years oldJA: How old is Strawberry?Customer: 12JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Strawberry?Customer: we have kept her in our downstairs bathroom because she was having accidents everywhere ( even before we found out she had a bladder stone, she would occasionally urinate in inappropriate places) she's an outdoor cat, she hasn't been outside since last Friday

I'll folow up for Dr. W for you. When seeing if a diet will dissolve a stone, we recheck X-rays a month after the diet has been fed. We can't learn anything by rechecking in a week. In any event, her current behavior suggests the need to surgically remove that stone as soon as possible as it may be obstructing her urethra at this time. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.

Thank you for your input. I ended up bringing my cat to my local animal hospital because she is very lethargic and won't touch food or drink water. They are keeping her there and are giving her fluids. They are going to take an x-ray of her kidney. She is currently dehydrated and has a fever of 105

You're quite welcome. I'm pleased to hear that she's being attended to properly. It sounds as if pyelonephritis (kidney infection) is being considered. Please continue our conversation if you wish.
