My 3 year-old female...

My 3 year-old female cat, hasn't been eating or drinking much at all lately. She has also been throwing up what looks like bile the past few days as well.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the cat eat anything unusual?

Not really. There is twine on her cat tree that was in her throw up.

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. The Expert will know what to do. What is the cat's name and age?

Fluffer. 3

Veterinarian's Assistant: What is the cat's name?

Fluffer

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Fluffer?

She is not fixed and has been very skinny all of her life. She was the runt of the litter

Hi

Dr. Paul Brazzell here

How long has she not eaten for?

Gums are pink?

Breathing is normal?

Passing stool?

Paul

Hello,She hasn't been eating normally for at least 4 days. The past 2-3 days she walks away from her food, but was pleased with the smell of tuna. Her breathing is normal. She urinated, but I haven't noticed her passing stool. Her gums are pink.
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
I brought her into the vet: her white blood count is normal and she is not dehydrated. I need a second opinion because I had to put my last cat down due to very similar issues as the veterinarians could not figure out what was wrong.
They did an x-ray and there may be a foreign object near her colon.

Okay thanks

Did they not offer you an abdominal ultrasound

X-rays are not that helpful in this case

I specialize in veterinary ultrasound and this will tell you if there is a problem or not and allow you to get this sorted ASAP

No, they did not.

Okay we have a plan

Ask for an ultrasound and make sure the person doing it knows what they are doing and has good equipment (ask them these two questions very specifically)

Then update me- I would be happy to review the findings with you

Okay?

They are giving her a shot to hydrate her and something to coat her stomach so she stops puking. I am about to go pick her up to take her home tonight and am not supposed to let her eat even if she feels up to it. I am to bring her back tomorrow morning so they can take another x-ray and see if anything has changed...
Customer reply replied 3 months ago
I will ask about the abdominal ultrasound when I pick her up.

Okay..........

Dont know why they just dont the ultrasound now

Please keep me posted

You can rate me now- I will leave this link open for you

And try and get those x-rays for me- I will look at them

The Vet told me that she will do an ultrasound if she doesn't get better. I saw the x-ray and was given a copy. It seems as though she has air in her colon and no foreign objects. She already seems better, probably because she doesn't feel like puking. But it looked like she ran away from a fart when we got home, so she may be getting better already.

Great news!!

Okay please keep me updated
