My cat fractured his leg this morning I am having a hard time finding an affordable vet to do surgery. The xrays and pain meds cost me 400 dollars this morning and they referred him for surgery

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. What is your cat's name and age?

Cappy 10 months

Veterinarian's Assistant: What is the cat's name?

Cappy

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Cappy?

They told me they also found a heart murmur so had to sedate him during the xrays

Hello, thank you for reaching out for assistance. I am sorry to hear that Cappy has a broken leg and a heart murmur. Can you tell me what pain medication they gave him?

Unfortunately, due to the location of Cappy's fracture, surgery would be required to repair his leg. It would not be stable enough to be repaired with other techniques. Many vet clinics offer emergency relief funds or may accept Care Credit to help cover some of the costs of surgery. While you are looking at your options, his pain medication should help keep him comfortable. Make sure to keep him in a quiet, small room so he does not further damage his leg. As far as the heart murmur is concerned, stress is a common cause of murmurs in cats. It will need to be re-evaluated before he undergoes surgery. They may consider an x-ray of his chest to further assess his heart.
