Customer Question
I just stumble across...

I just stumble across your site googling my cats symptoms. This may sound like I am over reacting but I am pretty sure my cat is dying of old age he is 18 years old, a main coon

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?

In the last 5 days he is not mobilizing very well @, eating very little and his coat is falling out and his normally pink skin is very red there is nothing I can do for him now at 11 PM I will likely take him to the vet tomorrow Yes I took a close look at his paws, there are no cuts I can see. And he is hiding under the bed which is not normal

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your coon?

There was some vomiting a couple of weeks ago - it settled with short fasting and a bland diet for 48 hours

I am very sorry to see that you have not received a response to your initial question before now. I just came online and found that your question had not been addressed. How is your companion at this time? When did your companion last have diagnostics, such as bloodwork and x-rays?

it was nearly 4 years ago and at the time I was told he was very healthy, he had some dental issues that required surgery before I brought him home from the SPCA. He is an adult rescue. Today he is still not mobilizing well and has not eaten. He purrs lightly when I pet him. And his tears are a red colour.
Cat Veterinarian: PitRottMommy, Veterinary Nurse replied 4 months ago

At his age, it would be rather unlikely that he does not have some variety of medical condition which might explain his symptoms. Really, no different than we'd expect to see in senior humans, as well. I do think it would be wise to arrange a veterinary visit for him with bloodwork and X-rays. I would ask your vet to run a CBC, chemistry, electrolyte and thyroid panel. The x-rays should help to determine if he has arthritis. Your vet will also want to examine the red skin and fur loss to see if there is a cause, such as fleas or allergies.

Do you need help finding a vet in your area or do you already have one?
