My male kitten - 7 months - was neutered and declawed exactly one week ago. The last two days, he eats his food and immediately throws it up 10-15 minutes afterwards. The food isn’t chewed at all so it looks like he swallowed it whole. He has never done this before. He did it yesterday after I fed him so I waited and didn’t feed him until this evening - and he did the same thing. Should I take him in? What do I do? He isn’t lethargic, no swelling on his incision site - nothing. Help!

Hello, this is Dr. Schmidt. Thank you for using JustAnswer. I cannot make a diagnosis over the internet, but I can make some recommendations on what you can do to help. Was he sent home on any medications after his procedure?

He was only sent home with pain medication, and he finished that three days ago.

Ok, thank you. My top two thought is he could be experiencing a little acid reflux from everything that has happened recently. I would start by giving him an antacid, Pepcid (0.25 mg/lb every 12 hours for the next 2 days). I would also split up his food into smaller meals 4 times throughout the day for the next few days as well. Usually that helps with this issue. If he is still having this issue after a few days or if he gets lethargic, I would take him in to the vet for a check up.
