Occasional Vomiting food after eating, hairball issues

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the cat eat anything unusual?

No

Veterinarian's Assistant: OK. The Expert will know what to do. What is the cat's name and age?

Toby age 13 tuxedo this happens 2-3x week sometimes after eating, but more often it occurs randomly or during night

Veterinarian's Assistant: How old is Toby?

This may sound crazy, but sometimes, not always, it seems it might be stress related. when we don't get up at 5am to feed, (make him wait), when we travel, cat sitter says it happens, etc..

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Toby?

Did you see my above comments?

Hi

Dr. Paul Brazzell here

How long has this been going on for?

Paul

Used to be occasional, but now more frequent. Hairballs at least 2xweek
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
All labs normal...US done and showed a very small (eraser head) area on stomach lining)
Thought we should wait a while before repeating US to rule out CA

Hmmmm

Hairballs are not a normal thing in cats

They are always secondary to an underlying GI issue- inflammation or motility disorder

Who did the ultrasound?

Paul

He appears normal in all other areas, stools, sleep habits, playful
An US VET
Customer reply replied 4 months ago
Is there any remedy that might help t calm GI tract before we put him through another US?

Okay thanks

A normal abdominal ultrasound does not preclude the existence of IBD

And this could still be a motility disorder

I would change diet to prescription hypoallergenic diet and start onto metoclopramide to increase stomach contractions

I have taught veterinary ultrasound for over 20 years :)
