Is she eating ok?

Any sneezing?

Any coughing?

Is she bright and happy?

We just brought her home today - she hasn't eaten anything nor seemed interested in a treat. No sneezing or watery eyes, just loud gurgling noises and then some wheezing/squeaking while her chest and tummy look like they are taking in and releasing huge breaths. She's been playing all day and very social.

Ok. When did she last eat?

Earlier this morning I think. We adopted her today. She was spayed on Wednesday, wondering if maybe this is a leftover symptom from surgery?

Ok. If she's eating ok and playing ok then it is not a huge concern.

I would be thinking possibly a side effect from the endotracheal tube (breathing tube) that goes down their throat during the anesthetic. This can cause irritation in the throat and lungs. It can also sometimes cause an infection.

Also sometimes when recovering from an anesthetic some cats can vomit a little and it can aspirate into their lungs. This can again cause an infection.

I would be monitoring her and take her to your local vet when they are open for them to check the lungs.

If she stops playing and/or not eating then I would be taking her to your ER vet sooner

She hasn’t eaten anything since she came home and seems incredibly disinterested. I figured this could be just because of an intense day of adjustment. ?

How many hours ago did she come home (I am in a different time zone)?

She’s been home for about 7 hours.

Ok.

I would give her 24hrs to come back onto her food. You could try heating it up or something more tasty but often the drugs make them not want to eat.
