Greetings, I'm Dr. Peck, hopefully I can be of some help.

The protocol for kitten vaccinations is as follows:

8 weeks old - FVRCP vaccine

12 weeks old - FVRCP and FeLV vaccines

16 weeks old - FVRCP, FeLV, and Rabies vaccines

Rabies is given once at 12 weeks or older.

FeLV is given twice, 3-4 weeks apart, at 12 weeks or older, so typically at 12 and 16 weeks old.

FVRCP needs to be given at a minimum twice, with the last booster occurring at 16 weeks or older - it's protocol is to start at 6-8 weeks, then be boostered every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age or older, thus the typical 8, 12, and 16 week booster schedule.

If you kitten is older than 8 weeks the schedule will be altered as-needed by your veterinarian.

Your kitten should also have a fecal parasite check - so bring a stool sample to the appointment.

And your kitten should be dewormed at every visit.

Cats are typically neutered at 4-6 months old, so often bloodwork is checked at the last 16 week visit and the neuter is scheduled.

Testing for FeLV/FIV viruses should be done at 12 weeks old.

You may be able to find a mobile veterinarian in your area to do a housecall, or you may schedule to take him in to a clinic, depending on what's available in your area. I suggest looking for a clinic that is AAHA accredited - you can ask or look on their website if they have one. They should also have something posted in their clinic if they are AAHA accredited.

Let me know if you have additional comments or questions, write me back and I will reply as soon as I am able to.

Otherwise, please kindly rate using the stars so that I receive credit for helping with your question today, thanks! - Dr. Peck.
