Customer Question
My cat is leaving...

My cat is leaving behind what looks like large grains of salt where he lays. Actually they look like pieces of dried garlic. What gives?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help your cat. What is the cat's name and age?

Huh? Lethargy? No

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about your cat?

My cat has feline aids.

I believe that you're describing tapeworm segments which are usually described as looking like pieces of dried rice. Ingesting a flea that contains a larval tapeworm is the most common cause of tapeworms and so not only worming him with an over the counter tapewormer containing praziquantel** but also making sure you have a flea preventative onboard him is important because if he ate another flea that contained a larval tapeworm he could develop another adult tapeworm within 30 days. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish. I have to leave my computer for the night but I promise to reply in the morning if need be.
