Customer Question
Hey, he has had...

Hey, he has had diarrhea for at least 36 hours. I have two cats, and noticed vomit in the house as well. I've assumed it was from him, but can't say with 100% certainty. I have seen him in the litterbox with diarrhea, so I know that is from him. All the diarrhea has been in the box. I do have some paperwhites in the house, which I just realized are toxic. There is no direct evidence of ingestion, but it is a possibility. He has not been drooling, lethargic, or exhibiting any signs other than his GI issues (vomit/diarrhea)

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Did you see what the cat ate?

No. He eats his food (fancy feast and blue buffalo dry). I accidentally bought the wrong blue buffalo dry, so he has changed foods, but he gets only a small amount. Like I said, he is indoor/outdoor, so he could have eaten something outside. Or he may have gotten to the paperwhites

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the cat?

He had a urethral blockage exactly a year ago. Since then, he has randomly exhibited signs of pain while urinating, but sub cutaneous fluids have helped. He briefly squatted yesterday with no flow, but I would not consider it a strain. I palpated his abdomen, however I did not feel any urine in his bladder. I have palpated him a few times since then

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today.

What does the diarrhea and the vomit look like?

Is he currently passing urine?

Are his gums pink or white/pale? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?

Could he have eaten anything harmful (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, human meds, etc)?
