my main concern is that every time he scratches at his ear he cries it's like a high-pitched cry I've never heard from him before
Cat Veterinarian: Dr. Christina, Cat Veterinarian replied 6 months ago

It sounds like he has a really bad ear infection. These can be very painful for them. A lot of times, they will not even let you put something in the ear it is so painful.

I tried calling my vet and there was no answer and they also did not provide the hours of business through the holiday so I have no idea if they're open tomorrow or not
Cat Veterinarian: Dr. Christina, Cat Veterinarian replied 6 months ago

He is going to need some oral pain medications and oral antibiotics/anti-yeast medications to help him feel better. Sometimes they have a website or Facebook page that you can find their hours on.

You can create a small concoction to put in his ear to try and help in the mean time.

You can get Monostat cream at the grocery store along with hydrocortisone cream. You can mix a small amount of hydrocortisone cream with it in a small bowl. Add warm water to make it a little more liquid. You can purchase a small syringe to get it up and then into the ear canal. The Monostat can help to slow bacterial and fungal growth. The hydrocortisone can decrease inflammation and help with pain.

There are no great pain killers over the counter for dogs but sometimes a low dose of aspirin can help a little. Does he have any kidney or liver problems?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
No he's only three years old and has never had any issues
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
But he's now asking a little weird he's laying on his ear and he's moaning should I just find an emergency veterinarian I can't find any info online about my vet
Cat Veterinarian: Dr. Christina, Cat Veterinarian replied 6 months ago

If you have one close to you, that is going to be the best way for them to get him good pain medications and some meds for his ears so he can be comfortable tonight. It's just going to cost a little more.
