It's actually my 6...

It's actually my 6 month old kitten. She keeps gagging like she's going to throw up but doesn't instead keeps swallowing white spit? Yesterday I was afraid she may have eaten tinsel of our Christmas tree but managed to get it away from her. Her stools are fine and she's still eating regularly. Occasionally when she sleeps she wakes up slightly screeching, like something is bothering her. I thought maybe it's a hairball or maybe she's getting sick from her food (I'm adding water to her dry food all the time because she prefers it that way). Also she's snoring but I thought some cats do that. Help??

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the kitten?

Maybe inducing vomiting could help her but I don't know how. I was going to take her to the vet but am unable to do so until next Thursday.

Hello, vomiting in a small, young kitten can be serious. If she is eating and keeping her food down that is good. If she stops eating or vomits the food up she should see a vet ASAP. This time of year pets like to eat Christmas décor such as ribbons or tinsel. All kinds of new things out to make them curious. Open her mouth if you can to be sure nothing is caught up around the base of her tongue. Should not induce vomiting without a vet check because may cause more damage, especially if is linear such as tinsel. Has your kitten been checked for intestinal parasites and vaccinated? Some upper respiratory infections can cuase a "sore throat". Also if she is straining to have a BM could be in trouble.

She's not vomiting at all, she retches every day now after she wakes up. She does keep her food down and her stools are fine. I have checked her throat to see if it's irritated but nothing. She doesn't like being picked up but she's still very playful. And when picked up near her hind legs, she will be annoyed or let out a slight moan. I got her at 8 weeks old as a giveaway kitten, they didn't say if she was vaccinated. I'm going to Vet hopefully by Tuesday this week, is it still possible to get her vaccinated?
Cat Veterinarian: Dr. Erin Brown, Veterinarian replied 2 months ago

Yes, it is definitely ok to vaccinate. If she has been exposed to something viral it can take up to 10-14 days to show clinical symptoms. She should also have a fecal exam for intestinal parasites, they can cause some gagging. Cats come into heat around 6 months (they get very vocal with their tails wriggling straight up in the air and rub their hind quarters against your leg, furniture, ect. ) and can become pregnant at 6 months of age if a male has excess to her. If she is still eating and drinking, urinating and having a BM then she is likely OK to wait till Tuesday. If she stops kittens can go down fast. Could she have gotten injured like a fall or accidently stepped on in the back end? I hope this is helpful.

She's actually handled with care by my family and I. If anyone accidently stepped on her, I would know. I'm honestly thinking it might be because she hasn't been vaccinated, I'm trying to get ahold of her original owner to make sure. If I can't, is it okay to get a second dose of vaccination? Either way, I'll find out tomorrow or Tuesday. She seems okay to travel, no limping, or anything.
Cat Veterinarian: Dr. Erin Brown, Veterinarian replied 2 months ago

Vaccines area typically started at 6 weeks of age then every 3 weeks as booster till about 4 months old. So no problem if she had already gotten a vaccine. I'm sure your family loves her very much and it sounds like she will be ok till the vet check.
