Hello! My cat has...

Hello! My cat has recently been having seizures. She is about 5 years old and has started showing symptoms in the last few months. They were a little more sporadic in the beginning, but I am getting worried as they are becoming more frequent now. I was hoping that an online veterinarian could help me with some sort of treatment for her. I cannot afford to take her to an appointment. I had been reading things online, and I see that gabbapentin (I am not sure on spelling) can be really helpful. Are there any other medications you suggest, and is it a possibility to get something for her online?

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Seizures always look scary. Let's get you talking to the Veterinarian. Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about your cat?

Not that I can think of. Her name is Sadie. :)

I am sorry to hear you are worried about Sadie's seizures. There are many possible reasons for a cat to have seizures, and the treatment varies, depending on the cause.

As an online veterinarian, I can give you ideas about what could be wrong, and what the treatment options would be, but I can't prescribe medication for her. For that, you have to have a "client patient relationship", which means a veterinarian who has seen and examined her.

I will be happy to continue with you and give you ideas about what might be going on with her, but if you are looking for gabapentin or other anti seizure medication, you have to see a veterinarian and have Sadie examined.
