Customer Question
About an hour and...

About an hour and a half ago my cat (male, about 5 months old) threw up twice. Since then he's been acting like he doesn't feel well and I think he also had a little bit of diarrhea.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did your cat eat anything unusual?

Not that I'm aware of

Veterinarian's Assistant: What is the cat's name?

Tails

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Tails?

He's just been acting kind of lethargic and seems uncomfortable like he'll throw up again, but he hasn't.

Any changes in diet or new treats?

Any chance he swallowed a string or toy?

With the information you have provided I would recommend not feeding him for the rest of the day. You can offer warmed up chicken broth a few times to keep him hydrated.

Then feed him tomorrow morning. If the vomiting occurs again and Tails has more diarrhea then we need to get him checked out by your regular veterinarian.

Hopefully, this is just a self-limiting stomach bug and it will pass.

if he continues to vomit and have diarrhea today then I would recommend getting him seen today by a veterinarian's to get his nausea under control.

At your veterinarian's they may want to check some blood work to make sure there is no liver or kidney or pancreas involvement in his symptoms. They may also wish to check a fecal to make sure there is no abnormal bacteria in his colon leading to these symptoms.
