Customer Question
My not-quite three year...

My not-quite three year old tabby rescue (neutered male) is vomiting clear fluid in small amounts. It happens day or night. I can feel and see his abdomen spasm just as the vomiting is about to happen.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the tabby eat anything unusual?

I'm wondering that myself. This is Florida, and it is not unusual for a lizard or frog to get into the house. He is not eating well at all right now, and I am worried about him becoming dehydrated. Personality change is also worth noting. He is normally almost excessively cuddly, but right now does not want to be held. Picking him up invariably causes the spasm and vomiting. There is no blood in the vomit or in his stool. Hopefully, that is meaningful.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the tabby?

He's on no medications, had his annual rabies shot earlier this summer, and lives with two other rescues, both much older, and showing no similar symptoms.

He and his housemates are all indoor cats. We are on the third day, and I am growing seriously concerned.
Cat Veterinarian: DocPaul, Veterinarian replied 7 months ago

Thanks.

I share your concern

I worry about a possible foreign body or other cause for obstruction of the intestinal tract

Never mind that he must feel miserable and is getting dehydrated

Can he keep anything down?
