I'm sorry to hear of this with Peyton. If he has become cachexic (wasted) due to starvation, he needs the attention of his vet at your earliest convenience. His vet needs to perform a thorough physical exam paying particular attention to Peyton's oral cavity looking for painful stomatitis (a general inflammation of the mucous membranes in the mouth) and dental disease in the form of teeth root abscesses or resorption. If there's no evidence of oral disease, diagnostics in the form of blood and urine tests need to be performed looking for metabolic diseases that cause nausea and inappetence. Imaging in the form of abdominal ultrasound might be recommended predicated upon the results of the blood and urine tests. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
