Hello, this is Dr. Sara. Poor little Buttercup. Has she been having any vomiting or diarrhea lately? Has she been dewormed yet?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 8 months ago
No to both! We also never got her distemper shot. We’ve only had her a few weeks

Alright, that is ok. The biggest reason for her behavior would probably be upset belly and maybe a little either constipation or diarrhea. Constipation can be very common in kittens until they are dewormed and their bodies get used to processing kitten food. When was her last BM? Nay chance she went tonight and then started eating again after that?

No she hasn’t had a BM yet. She’s been urinating fine. She just isn’t herself and was very worried we were going to lose her. We’ve never had a cat and this cake on so sudden. She doesn’t want to be touched at all either.

Well, I guess I didn't realize she was acting that sick. Did you say she started to eat tonight? Are you able to feel her belly and see if you feel lots of poop? Does her anus look like she may have been straining...

she started her eating again. Her anus looks fine. Her belly feels normal. She’s laying on her side now as well and purring a bit

Ok that sounds better. Maybe just some gas pains or maybe she does need to poop. If she doesn't go by tomorrow am, you may want to talk with your vet and or you can put a "pinch" of Miralax in some of her food to get things moving. I think she will be alright.

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question

Sometimes we take kittens and run the faucet on warm. Let the warm water run over her belly, and anus area while massaging the belly. You could try this is she seems uncomfortable later.
