Customer Question
I have been having...

I have been having a spray issue with one of my neutered males. It began several years ago. I have also tried several medications with my vet. Nothing seems to work and causes other issues sometimes and changes in behavior. I was trying to look for some other natural options when came across this.

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. Strange behavior is often perplexing. I'm sure the Veterinarian can help you. What is the cat's name?

Eddie

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Eddie?

I also have multiple cats.the issue started when we moved and a neighbor had mutliple cats as well.I know he wants outside, but I worry. We have an enclosed cat yard and porch area. My eldest cat was stalking him for a while and they would have horrible fights. Mostly under control at this point but can tell still causes him some stress.

I am very sorry to see that no one has reached out to you before now. I just came online and found that your question had not been addressed. How is your companion at this time? Can you tell me where your cat is spraying? horizontal surfaces or vertical? Both? How many litter boxes are available in your home? Where are they placed? How many cats do you have? Is he the only one spraying? What medications have been tried (please list all names and how long they were tried).

Vertically spraying. I have tried Zylkene, Clomipramine, Fluoxatine, Buspirone and Amitriptyline. Times vary but anywhere from couple weeks to month.. 6 wks max. Just depended on response and change in normal behaviors. He poops in the box just the spray issue. I have approx 10 cat boxes right now.. But have used up to 14 at a time. Not including the outside area and boxes there too.

Typically when it comes to behavioral medications it's recommended to keep the pet on them for a full 4-6 weeks to gauge whether or not it will work for them. If the medications mentioned have only been used for 6 weeks max, they may not have been given enough time to work.

How many cats are in your home at this time?

Where does the spraying usually take place?
