My Persian cat may have ingested spoiled turkey mixture.

Customer Question
My Persian cat may...

My Persian cat may have ingested spoiled turkey mixture. Brought home a kitten. The owner sent the mixture unfrozen 2 hr trip. I have taken him off all solid foods.x2 days. Started Forte Flora yesterday and made a cooked chicken broth - cooked chicken and then boiled 3 hrs. Now mixing the Forte Flora in that and giving by Syringe. About 30 cc this am. Diarrhea is almost gone and he has not vomited in about 46 hrs. He is 4 yrs old. Is drinking water. Keeping him isolated. He was going down to the basement to hide. The Kitten is fine as are the other 4 older cats. Am in on the right path here??

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. The Expert will know if your kitten will be able to digest that. What is the kitten's name?

RJ

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about RJ?

They have not seen him yet. He is not having Diarrhia. But When he did it smelled like it could be Giardia. Threw away that wet food. The other 4 cats do not like wet food so they are not exhibiting those symptoms.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. Please let me know if you still need help. May I have an update on RJ, please? I don't see a reason to deny him solid food. I might fast a vomiting cat but not a diarrheic one. I'm not aware of a specific odor to diarrhea caused by Giardia. If his diarrhea were food related, discarding it as you've done should normalize him within 72 hours unaided. The use of antibiotics should be avoided as should antimotility drugs such as loperamide (Imodium) and diphenoxylate/atropine.
