Customer Question
My cats are indoor...

My cats are indoor cats but I have a catio built where they can go outside and even cross a bridge to a tree. 48 hrs ago one of them came in holding her front paw up. Since then she been using it sparingly and I had a friend who is a nurse look at her and she don't think it's broken or has a splinter. There's no swelling, not warm, and we can touch it, move it etc. She's eating and drinking as usual. How long should I leave it before I see a vet. Kerry

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name and age?

Milky and she's 4yrs old

Veterinarian's Assistant: How old is Milky?

4 yrs old

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Milky?

No she's a very active cat usually.

Hi this is DRB and I would be happy to help you with this...so.....if your kitty is still not using her paw then that means that she is in pain.....this is how kitties show their pain.......

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question

She may or may not have a fracture.....palpation alone with not rule out a fracture.....a radiograph is required for that....

If it has been 2 days and she is still lame then I would have her seen tomorrow before you get into the weekend.....she at least deserves to have her pain treated....

Perfect thanks. I'll do that.

I know you did not realize she was in pain because you could touch and move her paw.....that does not mean she is not painful.....it just means it is not severe level of pain....
