I'm sorry to hear of this with Niklaus. You've described a ruptured abscess usually due to a bite wound. These need a vet's attention to be opened widely, flushed out with an antimicrobial solution such as chlorhexidine, debrided of devitalized tissue, and then either left open to drain or have a drain sewn into the wound. A systemic antibiotic is then prescribed for a minimum of 5 days. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
