Customer Question

My cat's pupils are dialated, is very lethargic, and is experiencing heavy, open mouth breathing. I felt her sides and stomach and they appeared to be tight, but I don't know if it's from her breathing heavy. She's never done this before except for today, and I'm very concerned. Could you please tell me what this might be?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

How long has she had these signs?

Any retching, gagging, lip licking, drooling, or vomiting?

Are her gums pink or white/pale? Moist or sticky?

Could she have eaten anything harmful (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, human meds, etc)?

Can you take a breathing rate for me (just count her breaths for 10 seconds + multiply by 6)?
