My female chinchilla has a discharge coming from her private

Customer Question

My female chinchilla has a white discharge coming from her private area.
JA: I'll do all I can to help. What seems to be the problem with the chinchilla?
Customer: She is licking it up.
JA: Where does the chinchilla seem to hurt?
Customer: She doesn't seem to be hurt.
JA: OK. No obvious pain. What is the chinchilla's name and age?
Customer: Willow. 9 years old.
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Willow?
Customer: She's still highly active and continues to groom.

She has never been pregnant or been used for breeding, and she resides in a separate cage from my other chinchilla.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

Has she had any change in urination? Going more often, straining, passing small volumes or a change in urine odor?

Any change in her thirst?

Has she been spayed?

Are her gums pink or white/pale?

If you press on her belly, any tensing, tenderness, discomfort, or pain?
