Customer Question

Oh hello! I wasn't expecting a chat!
JA: I'll do all I can to help. What is the matter with the cat?
Customer: She is throwing up almost daily. She's still eating a lot, and running around, and being a general nuisance. I'm thinking maybe a change in food since the supermarket no longer carries their own brand.
JA: Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did the cat eat anything unusual?
Customer: The food change.
JA: What is the cat's name and age?
Customer: Ripley. She's about 3 1/2, tortie long-hair. It's not hairballs. This is food she's throwing up.
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Ripley?
Customer: She's got a short-hair tabby brother called Jones and he is having no problems at all.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today.

How long has she has these signs?

How long ago did you change her food? Was it a quick change or slowly weaned over?

What does her vomit look like?

Can she keep water down?

Are her gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on her belly, any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Could she have eaten something she should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?

Any diarrhea?
