Have Cat Questions? Ask a Cat Vet Online.
Hi there! Poor Tiger! So I will need some more info. Is Tiger passing urine?
Or is he straining and non-productive?
Is he going frequently small amounts then?
Does he cry like he is painful?
Would he allow you to feel his abdomen?
If you can come up from behind him and place both hands on either side of his abdomen and feel all the way back towards his back legs and up into his pelvic area. If he is NOT passing urine his bladder will be very large and hard like a rock
If he is a large cat you may have to use some pressure. If he is painful he may not allow you to do this. DOn’t get bit though!
Good! A blocked cat would be very aggrivated and wouldn’t probably allow it. Stress, like being outdoors can bring on inflammation of the bladder called cystitis. Cat’s actually get a cystitis called idiopathic cystitis (idiopathic=we don’t know what causes it). If this is the cause of his symptoms, as opposed to a true UTI (bacteria) it could be self limiting and go away in a few days. However, it is painful like an infection. I would recommend taking him in for a urinalysis to check for bacteria and crystals tomorrow.
The GOOD news is, I don’t think he needs to go to ER
I bet he is a real cutie!
Did I answer your questions? Is there anything else I can help you with?
If I answered everything and you are satisfied, if you will be so kind as to rate me 5 stars. If I do not get a 5 star rating I will not get compensated for the answer. I really appreciate that
I hope Tiger feel better soon!
