Hi this is Dr. Hill. What an unusual circumstance. Most cats will prefer to be at an elevation, but will still typically walk on the floor unless there is something on the floor that is scaring them. Let me ask a couple of questions.

Is this a new residence?

Have you moved your furniture around?

Is there another animal in the household that may be chasing them (cat or dog)?

Have you just cleaned the floors?

Are they not getting down to use their litter boxes? Lets start there.
