Customer Question

We have a 21 year old cat, she has hyperthyroidism, and on the verge of kidney disease (kidney function is at the upper levels of normal). A cat sitter hydrated her --she insists that it's good for her, gave her 100ml. After about half an hour the cat appears to be very uncomfortable, her heart beats fast, and she is wobbly --her left side seems weaker. Please advise--

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner. If you would still like assistance, can you tell me:

What route were the fluids given?

What is her heart rate (just count the beats for 10 seconds and multiply by 6)?

Is she breathing faster?
