Customer Question

My older cat is being treated for toxo with clindamyacin. He is also getting pred BID for a previous Dx of asthma. I just noticed that his respiratory rate is high--60pm. He doesn't appear to be uncomfortable, and I saw him eat tonight. He does seem to be experiencing some urgency in running to the litter box, but I'm most concerned about his breathing. (I should note I'm a respiratory therapist). Any thoughts?

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today.

Are his gums pink or pale/white?

Does he have any congestion, open mouth breathing, or reduced activity?

You noted he was showing litter box urgency, can he pass urine normally?

Any belly tenderness or pain if you press between the back legs?
