Customer Question

My 18 yo. cat appears to have had a vascular event. She appears confused, is lethargic, very unsteady can hardly walk. This is fairly sudden. Yesterday she did not eat, drink, pee. She just slept. Appears to be in no discomfort. What suggestions do you have so I can keep her comfortable through the dying process? I will not let her suffer, but if at all possible I want her to stay home- no scary trips to the vet.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Veterinarian will know how to help the cat. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the cat?
Customer: She has very poor balance. Until yesterday she was perky and had none of these symptoms.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today.

Are her gums pink or pale/white?

Does she seem mentally dull?

Any circling or head pressing into walls?

Is she dragging either of her back elgs?
