He's been lethargic today, and has growled when I've tried

Customer Question

He's been lethargic today, and has growled when I've tried to pick him up. A few moments ago he vomited a small amount of what appeared to be frothy, clear liquid but when I blotted it up with a paper towel it was actually light pink. He's 10, weighs 20 pounds, indoor only and has been eating feline C/D prescription food for six years now because of struvites. We recently rescued a kitten which is in quarantine in another room in the house and he is VERY unhappy about it. I took his temp a while ago and it's normal (102.3 I think?)
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about He 's?
Customer: He's not eating. We sometimes give him Temptation brand treats and he goes crazy over them. Won't even look at them right now. I *think* he's been using the litter box, but we have two indoor adult cats so it's hard to tell if he's gone too or if it's just the other one.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

Again I do apologize that my colleagues could not aid you sooner, but can you tell me:

How long has he had these signs?

Can you confirm that he has been passing urine normally?

Any gagging, retching, lip licking, drooling or vomiting?

Can he keep water down?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

Since he growled when handled, do you think he had any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing in his belly?

Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?
