My 15 yr old cat has been diagnosed with thyroid, was given vidalta which we had to crush and put in her food to get it down her now she is refusing to take it no matter what we put it in....If she doesn't get her medication will her death be a painful one
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Rascal
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Rascal?
Customer: No. She has had blood tests and all okay except for thyroid, she is a very nervous cat and I don't want to have to put her, and me, the stress of taking her back there

I have an idea.

For cats that we can not get oral medication in we can have a compounding pharmacy make a gel you apply to the skin, usually on the ear, daily. Do you think you could do that?

Your vet will have to call in a script for the transdermal gel.

You can also get the medication made in a flavored tablet or a meat flavored liquid.

I found a pharmacy in New Zealand that makes those specialty type medications.

Otherwise I can not really tell you if she will have a painful death.

The high thyroid levels normally cause high blood pressure and kidney failure over time.
