Customer Question

My 14 year old 8 lb. cat has diarrhea. I am debating what I should give her. I thought about giving her some Fortiflora in her food. As far as drugs go I thought about Prednisolone 5mg. twice daily or Metronidazole 250mg 1/8 tab every 12 hrs.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Brooklyn
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about Brooklyn?
Customer: She has chronic kidney disease. We feed her Royal Canin Renal E wet food and she gets sub q fluids at home. She haas a very big appetite and does not throw up.
JA: Hopefully it didn't make a mess. Did Brooklyn eat anything unusual?
Customer: We also give her Friskies Indoor Cat food because it has only a 7% protein content. I don't believe she ate anything she shouldn't have.

Hi. I can try and help you with Brooklyn. Metronidazole and Fortiflora are a good starting point for diarrhea.

You can go as high as 1/4 tablet of 250mg metronidazole every 12 hours.
