My cat is dralling from the mouth and is having problems

Customer Question

My cat is dralling from the mouth and is having problems eating. He is 15 years old and is very thin all in the past couple of weeks.
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. What is the cat's name?
Customer: Smooky
JA: Is there anything else important you think the Veterinarian should know about Smooky?
Customer: He is a house cat and does go out

My name is***** and I'm sorry to hear that Smooky is drooling and having problems eating.

This could be caused several different things-

-severe dental disease (rotten teeth)

-a tumor in the mouth, especially under the tongue

-high thyroid

-kidney disease

-liver disease

-cancer somewhere else, like in the stomach

-blockage of his intestines, either from a foreign body or a tumor.

I would recommend that you take him to your vet this week for an examination and consider blood work and x-rays if no answer is found with the physical.
