12 yr old Maine Coon cat suddenly has weak hind legs, can't

Customer Question

12 yr old Maine Coon cat suddenly has weak hind legs, can't climb stairs easily but has always been a very healthy cat all his life. What could this be?
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked to see if there is a wound on their foot?
Customer: this seems to happen after a nap. No wound we can see.
JA: What is the Maine's name?
Customer: not sure what you mean?
JA: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the Maine?
Customer: always been very healthy, this is unusual behavior. Eats well, hydrates well. Have noticed fewer bowel movements in litter box.

Hello and thank you for your question. I am a Veterinary Nurse with over 15 years experience and I have assisted in the care of many pets with this particular medical concern. It would be my pleasure to assist you today. Is it possible for me to obtain some additional information from you about your companion?

1) Does your companion seem to be in pain?
2) Can you share a video of him walking?
3) Is he a purebred Maine Coon?
4) When did this begin?
5) Does this come and go or is it persistent?
