I changed my cats food Sunday night. Stepped in a big pile

Customer Question

I changed my cats food Sunday night. Stepped in a big pile of vomit Monday AM before my 13 hour shift in labor and delivery. Again the next morning. Kept him on clear fluids all day Wednesday then restarted his old food last night. He vomited all morning but was his old self running around and did not appear sick. Then he acted very lethargic around 6 pm (of course after the vet closed) then about an hour later he was fine again. Just now he was vomiting again
JA: I'm sorry to hear that. This sounds like it might be serious. I'll let the Veterinarian know what's going on ASAP. Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about your cat?
Customer: No he's been fine until now. I just gave him 1 mg dissolvable zofran (hope I didn't make a big mistake) but I have 2 more shifts tomorrow and the next day and I don't know what to do. He freaks out when I take him to the vet

The last time I took him to the vet they had to gas him to get him out of his carrier.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with today. I do apologize that your question was not answered before. Different experts come online at various times; I just came online, read about your wee one’s situation, and wanted to help.

How long ago did you give Zofran? What milligram was it and how much does he weigh?

Has the vomiting settled with this?

Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky?

If you press on his belly, does he have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?

Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?

Has he had any diarrhea?

Any issues passing urine?
