How old is your cat?

Is he neutered?

How long has be been bleeding?

Is the discharge dark red/blackish or bright red?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
i am not sure how old he is, he is not neutered, he has not been bleeding long and its more of a bright red
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

Customer reply replied 1 year ago
he had a tic maybe 3 days ago
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Is he straining or is the blood just running out?

Is he an outside kitty?

Could he have been

1 eaten rat poison

2 been hit by car

3 attacked by a cat or dog

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
straining he is an indoor cat those things would be unlikely
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

We seem to be having some technical difficulties.

I got that he is an indoor kitty. But I don't think you got my steam after that. Did you get another email from me?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Long or short hair?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Are you still there?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Its been a few days since his last stool since the tick bite
he does seem to be straining when he bleeds he doesn't seem to be in pain though
he has long hair
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
he shakes his hind legs when he walks but that may be because of the blood on his legs idk
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

OK

I don't think this a tick problem. We'll put that on the back burner.

Yes, I think he shakes he shales his legs because of the blood on his legs.

I'm going to ask you to do 2 things:

Lay him on his side (have someone help if possible) and gently press on his abdomen just in front of his hind legs. Do you feel anything hard. Like stool.

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago

Are his stools very hard?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
he was going on the litter box and nothing would happen the last like 2 days
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Any vomiting?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
no
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

My first thought is that he might have a stool that is too big for him to pass and he is bleeding from straining.

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
it was dripping too but he bleeds more when he strains
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
dripping blood too i mean
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

He may have ruptured some small blood vessels from straining.

Does your vet have after hour emergency service or is there an emergency clinic available?

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
do you know if vetco is an actual clinic or do they just do shots
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

I don't think they do emergencies. But you can call.

Inability to have a bowel movement from a large hard stool or from poor colon motility is called obstipation. He may have that especially because he is long haired and this is more of a problem for cats that swallow hair while grooming.

I'm very concerned about the bleeding.

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Seeing some blood after straining can happen. But his continual dripping is a concern.

Ask Your Own Cat Veterinary Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
im calling someone now
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

There could also be a growth in his colon that is preventing the passage of stool. But because he is young that is less likely

He had a blockage in his bladder and went into kidney failure... We had to put him down
Cat Veterinarian: Dr Marta Lepes, Cat Veterinarian replied 1 year ago

Oh I am so sorry. How difficult this must be for you.

Then the bleeding was from his penis. And the straining was from his attempts to urinate. I'm surprised that he was not vomiting.

But it is good that you did take him in because it ended his suffering.

My thoughts are with you.

When you have a moment, please rate the this service.
