Customer Question

I'm worried about my cat. She weighs about 16 pounds and she can't seem to lose weight. I give her half a can of wet food in the morning and for dinner I give her a 1/4 cup of the Blue Buffalo brand dry cat food. It's hard for her to get exercise because she can only stay in my room right now due to the fact that the other cat in the house and her don't get along. I'm just getting worried if my cat will develop health issues.

There is a really good prescription diet out now for weight loss- called M/D, made by Hill's Presciption Diet. Your vet should be able to write you a prescription. Good luck, and please let me know if you have any other questions! - Dr. C

Are there any side effects to it?

No, you should just take a week to gradually transition her to avoid gastrointestinal upset from a sudden diet change.
