Customer Question

Hi, my Cat has been to two emergency clinics, had an endoscopy, x-rays, blood work and an unltrasound but we can't figure out what's wrong with her. She hasn't eaten on her own in over a month and now has a feeding tube put in. She gaggs but doesn't vomit, coughs with a cacking sound, swallows a lot when her neck is touched. She has had ear infections for a long time and freaquently scratches a lot at her neck and ears, making them bleed, but won't take medication. I think there's a connection but without a diagnosis it's just a hunch. What other tests are there to do? Her breathing has an extra sound in it too, and her inner eyelids shut a little sometimes.

HI this is DRB and Here is what I would do with your kitty.

1.First get her on a hydrolyzed diet such as feline prescription diet ZD

2. Put your kitty on Prednisone 5 mg twice daily to reduce inflammation and to improve appetite

3. Put your kitty on Famotidine 2.5 mg BID to reduce gastric acid

4. Put your kitty on cerenia Monday-Thursday of every week to reduce nausea. Holiday from cerenia Fri, Sat. Sun

The above works for 95% of kitties with what you have described.

Your kitty sounds like she has a protracted food allergy that has led to the detriment of her overall helath

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need additional help. Sincerely, DRB
