Customer Question

My cat has resorptive leisons and needs surgery. The estimate was $1000+, and she would get morphine. She's had serious drug reactions, so I got a 2nd opinion. Vet said she NEVER uses morphine, but instead will use Buprenorphine, which I read is 30x more potent than morphine. Her estimate is $400, and she doesn't take xrays. No paperwork given, only handwritten notation about liquid Clindamycin. Very nice person, but I'm thinking about a 3rd opinion. I feel uneasy.

Hi there. My name is***** will try to help you with Mitzy's situation. I am sorry to hear about all the severe reactions she has had in the past. Just to clarify, has she had a reaction specifically to morphine previously?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
She's never had morphine. I'm just being pro-active, and careful about what she gets.

Dr. Chris, Are you still there?

Yes, I'm here.

Okay, sure. Just to clarify the point about morphine vs. buprenorphine, buprenorphine is certainly not 30x more potent than morphine and it has an overall weaker effect at providing pain relief.

Sorry, Dr. Chris, I need another opinion. I really don't want a vet who has 00000
ratings, and can't respond in a reasonable time, without prodding. I will cancel this service.

Okay. No worries. Hope you get the hope you need.
