Customer Question

Hi my cat seems to be very lethargic. he hasnt eaten since yesterday morning. he does have a very small wound on his ear and he has had an infection before. Every time he has a fever, his ears get hot, but his ears are actually a little cold. He has been sleeping. It might be me, but his purr sounds a little differet too. He is indoor and outdoor cat.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you with your wee one today. Any retching, gagging, lip licking or vomiting? Is he drinking normally?Any drooling, coughing, sneezing, grinding his teeth, or changes in the mouth? Are his gums pink or pale/white? Moist or sticky? If you press on his belly, does he have any discomfort, tenderness, or tensing?Could he have eaten something he should not have (ie bones, toys, plants, chemicals, etc)?Has he had any diarrhea? Is he passing urine normally?

He doesnt really eat until you force him a couple of time. His gums are pale/white. He hasn't vomited or passed amy stool. He seems uncomfortable when i touch his stomach

Oh dear,I have to say that if his gums are white, then we have an urgent situation on our hands here.White gums can be a sign of internal bleeding (which could fit with the belly discomfort), anemia (low red blood cell levels), heart and lung issues. And all of those would compromise his oxygen uptake leading to lethargy, weakness and appetite loss with secondary drops in body temperature. So, in this case, I have to say that I am very worried about Prince and this is a situation where we'd need to have him to his vet without delay to give him a chance here.Just in case you need a local emergency vet, you can check @ or via Please take care, Dr. B. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If you have any other questions, please ask me – I’ll be happy to respond.
