I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. An anorexic unvaccinated stray cat can be incubating one of the diseases we vaccinate against - panleukopenia, herpesvirus, calicivirus, or already be harboring either the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) or feline leukemia virus (FeLV) as well as gastrointestinal parasites such as roundworms, hookworms, coccidia, or Giardia. There are far too many possible causes of anorexia to list in this venue and so unless he remisses unaided within 3 days, he'll need to be thoroughly examined by a vet including testing for both FIV and FeLV and those parasites by fecal ova and parasite testing. Please respond with further questions or concerns if you wish.
