Customer Question

Hi there, my cat usually goes to the toilet at least once a day but I have noticed that over the past 3-4 days she has only urinated but no umber 2's. I put some cat-lax on her paws last night hoping it would help today, but to no avail. Should I be worried?

I am sorry to hear you are worried about Sushi. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

Is she straining, trying to pass stool? Is she eating? Constipated cats will usually strain, and stop eating.

You could try adding fiber to her food if she is not defecating. Canned unsweetened pumpkin or cooked sweet potato can be helpful. A pinch of Metamucil, or 1/4th teaspoon of Miralax on the food is also safe to try. Do not use any other over the counter laxatives or enemas on cats.

If she is eating, I am not too worried. I would take her to your vet to be checked if she stops eating, if she is straining with nothing coming out, or if she vomits. I hope she does something in the litter box soon. Let me know what other questions I can answer.
