I have 2 brother and sister cats, a little over one year

Customer Question

Hi. I have 2 brother and sister cats, a little over one year old. I am about to move to a new address, and am wondering if I might safely administer a liquid sedative/tranquilizer in their food so I may get them into their carriers easier, as they are both very skittish, having been born of a feral mother. Any recommendations you might make in this matter would be appreciated. Thanks for your time and assistance.

I'm sorry that your question wasn't answered in a timely manner. There are no over the counter products which will accomplish what you desire to do but their vet carries the tranquilizer Acepromazine in either tablet form or injectable solution which can be given orally or mixed in wet food. When dosed 2 hours prior to the desired effect, you should have much more tractable cats. This is a prescription drug available only through their vet
