Customer Question

I have a Calico cat about 12-14 yrs old. My son just reported that she urinated on the floor and is howling when touched. She tries to get up but drags her back legs across the floor. Does not want to be petted or touched.

Hello, this is Dr. Linda. I hope I can help with your question today.

I am so sorry that Tilda is in such distress. The howling, urinating & dragging her legs is a VERY concerning set of symptoms. She may have developed a blood clot in the vessels leading to her back legs, something called a saddle thrombus. This is very painful, hence her urinating & vocalization. This is an emergency situation. Carefully wrap her in a towel so no one gets hurt & get her to your veterinarian as soon as possible.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Thank you & all the best to you & Tilda.
