Customer Question

My cat is licking what seems to be something containing a pink (blood?) substance from his rectum area. He is an 8 year old part Maine coon. It is midnight where I am with no help at hand. What do I do? He weighs 24 lbs.

Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian & I would like to help you with your wee one today.

Does he seem painful? Has he been dragging/scooting his bottom on the ground?

Is the pink discharge from inside the rectum or are there any wound around the rectum?

Has he passed any loose or hard stools?

Are his gums pink or pale/white?
