Mystic has had diabetes. She has started with a dry cough

Customer Question

Mystic has had diabetes for years. She has started with a dry cough and appetite not good. Tried several things over past couple of days. Some days she eats alot others not so much. Also brought her with us on vacation where other animals are welcome could this be part of it or should I contact a vet in the morning

I am sorry to hear you are worried about Mystic. My name is Rebecca. I am a veterinarian and will do my best to help.

How much insulin is she getting? How long has she been coughing, and not eating well?

If you look at her gums, are they pink in color? Can you take her temperature?

I would recommend having her checked by a veterinarian as soon as you can. She is older, and diabetic cats can be fragile. She is telling us she does not feel good, and it would be good to start with a physical exam, get her temperature, check her blood sugar, give her fluids if she is dehydrated from not eating well.

Let me know what else I can help with or answer. Rebecca
