Decongestants are toxic to cats and dogs, so you can use those. Does Rusty go outside?

Hello I am Dr. RB and I am a small animal veterinarian. I have used some decongestants in dogs and cats with some success. I only typically recommend you try to use them if nasal discharge is clear ONLY for allergic sinusitis (e.g inflammation of nasal passages from inhalant allergies).. yellow and/or green discharge from the nose or from coughing indicates a bacterial or viral infection and decongestants will not help with this. For cats, I use Chlorpheniramine 4 mg every 24 hours.. Hopefully this will help you:)
